Continuing our lesson in architecture, we stayed at Richard’s Mid Century Modern home in Savannah. Much of the original architecture remains, and we love staying here. |
Not your typical Savannah home, Richard’s house is so unique, the local design college comes on tours of his home. To imagine it, the house is a rectangle, that is completely glass windows which all open to a central courtyard. Recently, Richard added a pool in this courtyard, and it looks like it has been there forever. His home has also been featured in a local magazine called “The South” and has held many gatherings for friends. The kids absolutely love staying here. My favorite part? In the first picture, the front door opens to a rock wall. At the bottom, and indoor outdoor koi pond where the fish swim freely between...oh, and toads too. And, yes, the rock wall does have a waterfall feature. Looking around, you can see much of the original house is untouched. |
Uncle Jon recovers from a day as tour guide with some fun in the pool with the nieces and nephews! |
Richard’s so nice, he not only shares his home, he shares his ice cream too! |
This area is the foyer and formal living spaces. |
