FrogsText Box: Home

For quite some time now, Audrey has been taking photos of frogs at our pond.  While I was recently flipping through the pictures, it occurred to me, they were worth publishing.  In the process, we are learning some things about frogs.

When frogs swallow their meals they close their eyes.  By retracting their eyes they  are  actually pushing the food down their throat.

 

Frogs have teeth like ridges on their upper lip, but non on the lower jaw.  Toads have no teeth!

 

Frogs ears are connected to their lungs.  This makes it so that sound not only vibrates the ears, but the lungs too!

 

Most people know frog skin is how frogs drink. But, they also absorb oxygen thru their skin from the water!

 

They also shed their skin as they grow...why haven’t you found any frog skins?  Because once shed, they eat it!

 

Frogs are a sign of a good healthy ecosystem!
