We took the train from New Haven into the city.  It was a fun experience for the kids.  Although, it is easier to drive for me!  We got into the city around 11am at Grand Central Station.  Aya recognized the clock in GS from the movie Madagascar!  When we made our way onto the street, we found Madison Avenue was closed for a street market!  Cool foods, cheap prices and products made our walk a lot of fun!  This is the picture below— looks like a movie set!

Madison Ave

After the street market, we made our way to Rockefeller Center.  We did some shopping and went to the NBC experience store.  The kids had a blast seeing where the TODAY show is filmed and looking at all the stuff from shows we watch.  We then crossed over to Trump Tower and the Disney store.  I took the picture of the below 40 year old cheerleaders for Hayley.  She is equally crazed over High School Musical TWO coming out Friday.

When you go to NYC you just have to go into FAO Schwarz.  And, you must wait in line to play on the life sized piano—and all the Moms and Dads watch and remember BIG when Tom Hanks jumped around on that very piano.  However, I don’t recommend you try to relive it with the kids— they just look at you blankly.

Below Spencer poses with a life sized lego Darth.

Central Park

Standard practice for us when we go to NYC is a carriage ride in Central Park.  It is New York reasonable, and a wonderful way to see a part of Central Park.  Aya had never been in a horse and carriage, and seemed to really enjoy herself.  Our horses name was Silver, and our driver was an Irish chap who I think we have had before.  What I found interesting, was how they identify the horses by carving numbers into their hooves.

Liberty

After our carriage ride we took the subway down to lower Manhattan for a view of the Statue of Liberty.  Last year, Audrey went to the Lady, but didn’t get to go inside because they had closed.

The only thing Spencer cared about seeing was Ninetendo World.  Of course, I forgot it was Sunday, and as I was looking at the Statue I started thinking— I hope they don’t close early.  So, we took the subway back uptown, and found out that the store was right in Rockefeller Center, NOT at the address that was listed on line.  Luckily, we made it there, but only had 20 minutes before the closed.  ooOOps!

Ninetendo World

Outside again, we found the flowers that would be used on the TODAY show set were being delivered.  It was cool because on Monday we watched the TODAY show and saw these very plants around the studio!
