I went through Memphis on our way to Oklahoma, and then I saw the signs for Graceland. Clearly, we needed to stop there on our way back. While we did not go into the mansion itself (too pricey for me) we toured the tourist trap areas and looked at the book in the gift shop of what we WOULD see if we were going to pay the money to get in there. While I am not a huge Elvis fan, I am a huge fan of Paul Simon, and Graceland is one of my favorite songs ever! So, I was goin’ to Graceland….with my travelling companions! |
Memphis is the birthplace of Rock and Roll. It is also the homes of BB King and Elvis Presley, considered The King of Rock and Roll. |
As close as we got to the actual house. |
What they didn’t know before they went to Graceland:
Elvis Presley was the King of Rock and Roll and started the movement toward the music we hear today. He served in the Army. Lisa Marie had her own plane. He died of a drug overdose. |
Ticket prices: Too much for us!
Right: Girls pose with the famed Elvis jumpsuits! |
