When our friends the Crawford’s moved to Oklahoma Kathy was sure she’d never see us on her doorstep!  In spite of the long journey the kids and I jumped in the van and made our way to Oklahoma!  Although there were moments with 8 children in one house—overall, it was a fascinating learning experience in an area of the country we have never had a chance to really explore!  What fun we had!

When you drive to Oklahoma on Rt 40 you will drive through many famous European cities?

· Milan

· Prague

· Stuttgart

· Dresden

· Rome

· Paris

 

Not to mention these famous places!

We also found the name choices for vacation or recreation sites to be ‘interesting’—

 

Our personal favorite was:

· Toad Suck Park

· Frozen Head State Park

· Forked Deer River

· Big Skin River

· Little Skin River

After ten hours of driving, we reached our destination state of Oklahoma!  We were surprised to find that driving the Arkansas there were so many rice patties.  There was a sign on the side of the road that said Arkansas is the second largest producer of rice in the USA!  Who knew!  The fields were so green and pretty we stopped on the side of the road several time to look at them. 

Once we reached the Oklahoma state line the kids were overjoyed!  The only problem was— we still had TWO MORE HOURS to drive!  We thought the rest areas with this cool teepee covered tables was really neat.
