Did you know the symbol of Southern hospitality is the pineapple? There were plenty of pineapples to welcome us into downtown Charleston. Along the water was a long park full of all sorts of Southern hospitality! |
This super cool fountain was great for the kids to play in. There was a field trip of young black children who were full of hospitality for out of town guests! They were so cute! |
This little cutie wanted to pour this on Malena’s head...but in her Southern hospitality way...she asked first! |
Charleston is the port of a rich and colourful history of the South. It has something for everyone. Named after a king, invaded by the dread pirate Blackbeard, and a major port in all historical wars that formed our country, it is a place that has it all! Our favorite spot downtown was the Charleston Waterfront Park. Aside from a beautiful walk along the water, it has fountains, fiddler crabs, old boats and the best? A huge fountain for the kids to play and cool off in! |
All around Charleston are “Turtles Around Town” a project which people buy these turtle sculptures and the money goes toward turtle rescue. Each turtle has a different theme. The one above with the seashells, I took a close up to show the level of detail in each. The kids had fun spotting them “around town!” |
Patriots Point in the distance. We enjoyed our Charleston hospitality! |
