Rehab Training

Today started my official journey to learn how to care for raccoons.  Ths little guy is about 3 weeks old.  He still drinks out of the bottle, but will soon move to a bowl of baby cereal and formula.  This guy will have to be moved out of this Rubbermaid container soon too!  As you can see he was about to climb up over the top!!  My trainer, Erika, received some teeny tiny baby’s on Saturday.  They were separated from the mother when someone found her in the attic.  The people closed off the attic so she could not return to retrieve the babies.  They are not even a week old!  They have closed eyes.  This guy just opened his eyes a little over a week ago.

The tiny guys above are being fed with a syringe because they are too small for a bottle.  They must be fed every few hours, and kept very warm.  To the left you see that guy is smiling for the camera!  Actually, after having a full belly they were very ‘chatty’ and had lots to say!  I was surprised to learn today how much like cats their movements are.  They push with their paws when they are getting ready to bed down like a cat.  And they are just old enough to start playing a little wrestle with one another.  They were cute!

Time for bed!
