As many of you know, Audrey turning twelve marks a major mile stone in our house. She is now, officially BABYSITTING AGE!!! (for up to four hours, some restrictions apply, may not be combined with other offers, see store for details) This year, we were lucky enough to have a reunion of friends who moved away with those of us who stayed here. So, we had a New Years Eve party for her 12th celebration. You’ve got to love it when you’re daughter says “I want a Wolf theme to my party.” Ah, gone are the days of the pre-fabbed princess motifs...and you should try explaining to the guy at Milwaukee's Custard that you want a wolf on her cake...ya, I ended up doing it myself. But, in the end, it was a rocking New Year for the kids, and that is all that matters. |
Try coming up with Wolf themed party games...go ahead—try. Okay, NOW I could come up with some other ideas, but for all the days before—could not come up with much! So, you see here the kids playing a rousing game of sheep/sheepdog/wolf. Probably not the best game to promote the plight of the wolf, but they had fun!! Sheep go in the middle, dogs protect them around, wolves try and get the sheep. The second game was a take on wolf sense of scent. Okay, well, I didn’t exactly have time to work the details out on that one, so we had each kid perform a different howl...then they had to find other members of their pack. I have to say, when you have 12 kids howling on the back porch at night—sure, I was a popular neighbor...but it was pretty cool sounding. So real in fact, we heard a neighborhood dog join in!! |
CAKE And PRESENT TIME! |
We here at Ramseycentral would like to wish all our family and friends a healthy, happy 2008, and give a special thanks to those friends who travelled far and wide to help make Audrey’s birthday so special! It was a night to remember! |
On the actual day, Audrey spent the morning with her Grandma at Build a Bear. We all met up for an afternoon movie of The Water Horse (which I highly recommend) and then were off to Tarchez for some very merry bargains. So, my 12 yo will be sporting some very fine Xmas pj’s for a mere 3.25~ And her sister, some mighty fine xmas tees—a dollar!! Anyhow, then we had a nice family dinner at Uno’s, and she came home to open gifts. Here are some gifts from her cousins. Grayson made her a wolf card. She loved this shirt, which I was glad to hear since she hasn’t taken off the wolf one from Hayley and Nick since New Years Eve! |
And, while all the gifts were really great, and the time with family was wonderful...as she is ready to drift off to sleep tonight *well, okay, it is actually me who is ready for bed...she came tearing downstairs, having just solved, for the first time ever, on her twelfth birthday...the Rubix cube. Yes, folks, she, and all her siblings swear she did it all, on her own (without taking it apart you cheaters out there)!! Since Christmas my man has been saying he used to do Rubix in 45 seconds, but has forgotten—well, he relearned and has since taught Audrey the algorithms to solve the puzzle. Like a friend and I discussed...we could fiddle with that thing for 100 years, and never even get it close to being right! |
