Another Day in the CountryText Box: Home

Yesterday, the kids and I headed to Sandy’s farm.  We spent almost all day out there looking around.  What a beautiful day!  The kids had fun playing in the pond, exploring the countryside, and walking in the stream.  Here are some pictures from our day!

After the thunderstorm we took a ride up to the top of the mountain and found THIS in the middle of the driveway!  Isn’t he cool?  Look at those claws!  It was not too good with the social graces, and did not move out of the way too quickly—so, my friend told me to move it across the street.  She failed to mention the reason they are called ‘Snapping Turtles’ is because they snap, hard and fast!  When I bent down to pick it up from the front, all I saw was the white of his inner jaws!  Luckily, he missed me, and I opted for a rear approach next time.

One thing that was really cool is how he used his tail to move.  It was like a 5th leg.  That was very cool.

The house at the top of the hill had a barn swallow nest.  Inside, were 5 tiny eggs like these.

Another amazing day!
