Yesterday, the kids started tennis lessons. The instructor was really great with the kids, and they had fun and learned a lot! We decided to take some lessons because we are thinking of joining the Country Club—for the pool, because, many of you know I long for a pool. I dream of a pool in my yard where my children (and I) can lounge and frolic...oh, but back to the tennis lessons. In the event we decide to fork out the $$ for the CC it would be nice to know that when they close the pool in the beginning of September, that we had something else that could take up the slack for the rest of the year. So, when the Network offered tennis lessons—we were on it. The funny thing is, they could take lessons at the CC, and the instructor would have been the same! They seemed to really enjoy it. |

Audrey works on controlling the ball with the racket. |

After a little more racket and ball time, it was time to move to the net. They had fun learning the positions for playing tennis. |
Look at these groups of photos. This clearly explains the difference between Audrey and Spencer. Spencer, does not have a competitive bone in his body, he is happy to step aside and let someone else take the glory. But, Audrey, she is running up, taking position, and lobbing it back! |
And then, before my very eyes...it happened. Spencer got a little determination in his stride. He ran up to the net, took position and viola! Hit that ball high into the sky with purpose. You can even notice how he gets BOTH arms moving! There is a bounce in his step, and force in his racket. |
Then Audrey comes up to the line, and is in position— does a step turn and hits...and misses…
But, you gotta love her follow through! |
More practice led to both of them running, using proper form, and hitting the ball over the net time and time again. And, with each success came more determination. More intense participation...until: |

Even the girl in the pink behind him is amazed by his John McEnroe type expression! |
