Can you all believe that I have not posted here because when my man set this up–I was sort of half paying attention. Well, it logged me out, and I haven’t been able to figure out my user name. Ya. I know. What kind of a blogger am I? That is why my webpage is soooo much easier to update!! Sorry! Now that I am back on—more photoworks are on their way!

Many voids in our lives leave us feeling empty, without purpose, but in the case of this void…well, it just makes me happy. It makes me happy to see this void in my 7 year olds mouth, and even though I have had four children, this one is the first to have lost BOTH front teeth at once.

Needless to say, at this stage, the girl is getting everything she wants. I mean, how could you possibly say no to this?

You may notice she is actually missing four teeth all together, which only adds to her ability to get anything she wants. The others? Oh, well of course they cry and complain that she gets it all…but I just tell them straight up, when you have four holes in your mouth…you too can get anything you want. And, why is it this is so cute, but if say…it were ME who had a mouth that looked like this it would be…well…let’s just say I don’t think my man would be thinking I was so cute.
Well, I would love to keep writing about all of the little fine photoshop moves I used on these pictures, and all of the lightroom presets, and how I have completely mastered the dodge and burn techniques…but…I have to work on the barn and fence for the new pony Malena’s getting next week.
Just kidding.
sort of.

Solitude and quiet are something we find hard to locate in a bustling household where people are always talking, coming, going and running amuck. Audrey, has mastered the art of solitude…how to find it, and how to enjoy it. She did this well on vacation, and clearly enjoys taking a moment to take in nature and enjoy her own solitude.

In all of my free time, I have been fooling around with these presets to Lightroom I downloaded off the Internet for free. I love LR, because, it is easy. Have I said that before? Well, it is easy. The hardest part is deciding which preset to use on the photo. Here I took the above SOOC shot and vamped up the colour and then I put a vignette around it that was white instead of black. I think this looks pretty cool.

Then, using the presets and the same shot, I did this litho technique with a dark vignette.

I like this one too. It reminds me of a picture I had turned into a canvas a few years back. To take this one step further, I added back in the aqua tones, and then applied “daylight” which took out the oddly placed blue sploches on the kids face. Now, I love this one best.

They came to us when they were just two days…ours to raise during those early Spring days.
And as they grew, we knew, they could not stay…
Then came the fateful day, when it was time for the ducks to go away.

Actually, they left under cover of night, for you see, they could not take flight.
So, we packed them in, and no children did grin, as the truck drove out of sight.
But, to our delight, the very next day we did see our ducks swimming away.
They have gone to be in a lovely place, a pond with a fence, and yet…
We all still miss them, every day.

I recently read about dodging and burning on Pioneer Woman. I tried it out on this picture, and it worked pretty good. The only thing I really ‘overdid’ is her teeth. I lightened them, and they look too light to me. I have tried to use these tools before, but never really understood how they work. In short, Burn=darken, Dodge=lighten. Did I mention this is Malena’s new hairstyle?

Changing photos from colour to sepia is pretty easy using LR. I liked this sassy photo, and thought it would do well in this format. I am going to fool around with colour tinting…and making her eyes pop…in all my free time!

I used lightroom on this picture. I really like Lightroom because things are easy for me to figure out. I got a great deal on it from an educational site. This picture was great in colour, but I thought this made it a little more dramatic.

For whatever reason, I love this picture. I don’t know if it is the carefree nature, the artistic layout (clearly I didn’t feel it was necessary to show her whole head) or if it is the little bits of spit between her front teeth and bottom lip. But, whatever the reason, I love this picture. I just thought you’d like to know that.

From the beginning of childhood, my kids have called these wishing flowers. I think I vaguely recall telling Audrey when she was little they were seeds wishing to be blown to a new home and grow…so it goes, they became ‘wishing flowers’…
